  1. Hi there,
Anybody at your club who can help me please..
I’m new to astronomy and am having difficulty setting up a celestron 130 scope, think I’ve colliminated it correctly I can see reflection of eye in eye piece, and I can focus in daylight on distant pylon and reveal good detail, however when aimed at Venus I get an image of cross bracket (the one supporting the second mirror) I can see what could be Venus imerging from behind the bracket. If I focus the bracket out I get a small blob of light presumably generated by Venus,
I appreciate this is an entry level scope, however I’m sure it should give some interesting images, could you please advise where I’m going wrong.
    Regards Richard
(I’m approx 12 miles from Gt Ellingham hence it seems sensible to ask you first)

    • Hello Richard,

The best thing I can suggest is that you pop alongto the observatory one Tuesday evening after about 8pm – bring the scope if you can. There’ll be a number of people there who’d be happy to help you if they can!

  2. Yes please bring it along and meet us Richard. Certainly don’t worry about being a member for now. I assume you can find the place OK. Like Bob the webmaster says we’d be happy to help sort out the issue with the telescope. It sounds like a good one.
