Under the leadership of our Education Officer, Bob Greef, our team provides a variety of learning opportunities and community involvement in our observational work.
Frequent visits to schools and youth organisations such as Scouts, Guides and Young Farmers ensure that we reach the next generation of stargazers.
In addition, we periodically run introductory courses in astronomy for members. These are aimed at complete beginners but cover the material in sufficient depth to challenge the experienced amateur astronomer. An announcement of the next course will appear here soon.
For the more experience astronomer, there are distance learning courses available from a consortium of universities in the Northwest.
These universities are University of Central Lancashire at Preston, Liverpool John Moores University and the University of Manchester at Jodrell Bank in Cheshire.
The link below is shared by these institutions and in turn links to their own websites.

Our strong links with the University of Cambridge and our affiliation to both The British Astronomical Association and The Federation of Astronomical Societies ensures that our programme is at the leading edge at the limits of our equipment's capabilities.
