Welcome to Breckland Skies!
Breckland Astronomical Society is based in the dark skies of Great Ellingham in Norfolk, and has its own observatory housing a 20″ reflecting telescope. You’ll find more about the society, past and present, in these pages, so feel free to look around!
We are currently back in the hall at Great Ellingham Recreation Centre
with the facility to livestream on Google Meet (links go out to members and on facebook page)
Google Meet is a web-based meeting app like Zoom. Hosting livestreams from the hall may lead to more delays in allowing participants in or responding to comments.
Times: arrive at 19:15 for a 19:30 start. Society admin usually lasts 5 min, then it is over to the speaker and followed by questions and coffee. By 9pm most talks should be finished.
Small donations are welcome to cover our costs, via the website donate button or by contacting the treasurer (above). Costs are £2 hall entry £1 if under 18.
Public Observing Nights
We hold free public observing nights on the last Friday of the month. The next one is currently scheduled for 24th September 2021 at 7:30pm (dusk) and the following 29th October etc…
Currently we allow a maximum of 6 people / 2 households in the observatory and have plenty of space on the patio and field for more telescopes. Please bring any new telescopes if you want advice or to test them.
